About the Program

Professional Licensure: This program leads to a recommendation for NYS certification; please check for certification requirements in all other states.

This master’s level program is designed to serve the educational needs of professionals who provide behavioral health treatment for individuals with autism and autism spectrum disorders and related needs. This program consists of a minimum of 33 credits. It is designed to address the essential skills and competencies for professional practitioners in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. Completion of this program leads to recommendation for New York State Licensure as a Behavior Analyst (LBA) and recommendation as a Board certified Behavior Analysis from the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BCBA). Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree in psychology, education or other subject areas that address learning and behavioral change.

Mission Statement: To prepare candidates for certification and professional licensure by developing their knowledge and skills in the empirical, conceptual, and applied foundations of behavior analysis, enabling them to become ethical practitioners who enhance quality of life through evidence-based interventions.

Program objectives:
-Provide a comprehensive, master's-level education for professionals working with individuals with autism and other related needs, including behavioral health conditions.
-Equip graduates with the knowledge and skills in the empirical, conceptual, and applied foundations of behavior analysis, necessary to practice ABA effectively.
-Prepare candidates for certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and New York State licensure as a Behavior Analyst (LBA).
-Offer a streamlined pathway for candidates to begin working on their master's degree while completing their bachelor's degree in psychology or education.
-Focus on student success through collaborations, research opportunities, and other academic support.
-Develop a culturally responsive learning environment and foster collaboration with candidates and community partners.
-Continuously assess the program and candidate outcomes to ensure ongoing improvement.
-Train behavior analysts to apply the science of behavior in diverse settings.
